Golden Key History
It all started when…
I wanted to make a painting series to get into galleries and eventually graduate school. I was working in advertising and the creative teams always got creative briefs. They were so well organized and to the point. How do I get one of those for my billions of thoughts I’m trying to get into this series of paintings. So a strategist friend of mine said I should start writing him stream of consciousness and after some time of this, he came to me and laid out my writing and pointed and said, “This is your big idea, the Freedom Organ”. It was still 5 or so more years before I got to the golden key, but what emerged wasn’t a series of paintings. It was 210 topics that a friend called “an abbreviated system of the universe”. Sure each could be their own paintings, but what I was really after was the experience that when I sat down with someone, was exactly what I wanted for them when they looked at a painting. A catalyst in human consciousness, an a-ha moment, a shift, a feeling of hope or relief, or just that they weren’t alone in whatever they were going through. What I made isn’t a visual piece of artwork, it’s an interactive creative experience that hopefully brings out a little bit of the better in humanity.
